Ryerson Salesforce Intern - IL Lisle in Lisle, Illinois
Position Description: Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, and recently celebrated our 175th anniversary. We operate approximately 100 locations with 4,000 employees in North America and China. We are currently seeking a bright, energetic individual to fill our 2018 internship position and to contribute as an essential member within the IT Analytics/Salesforce team in Lisle, IL.
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assigned projects that are designed to offer exposure and experience in a wide array of functional business areas including basic and applied research in conjunction with the defined internship program.
Our toolset includes best in breed software such as IBM Cognos and Salesforce.com as well as the ability to leverage in-house programming resources for custom application development.
Expected responsibilities include:
Assist in developing analytic tools such as reports, dashboards and ad-hoc queries used by management to gain insight into complex business circumstances
Use of best in class computer software such as IBM Cognos, SalesForce.com, SPSS, Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimization to extract data and report timely, pertinent information
Work with data from a variety of business disciplines ranging from the local service center operations to corporate departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Human Resources, Accounting and Treasury
Gather and document requirements for datasets and created reports as well as business user training materials
Aid in the data collection, testing and validation for newly created data sources
Provide tactical analytical support to meet business demands as required.
At the end of the internship, it is anticipated that the intern will have:
A greater understanding of a variety of software tools such as Cognos, Oracle, SalesForce.com and other ad-hoc query tools
Working knowledge of how Business Intelligence and Analytics operate within an Organization
Relationships between different data sets and how to use them in the correct business context to solve complex business circumstances
Learned how to gather requirements for reports and new/enhanced datasets
Learned how to test and validate newly created /enhanced datasets
Minimum sophomore year completion with a progressive matriculation towards a Bachelor’s Degree such as Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, Finance or similar business area.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
Prior work experience is a plus.
Ability to impact and influence others.
Proficient with MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated analytical and organization abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Personal initiative and leadership potential.
