Ryerson IT Intern in Lisle, Illinois
Position Description: Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, and recently celebrated our 175th anniversary. We operate approximately 100 locations with 4,000 employees in North America and China. We are currently seeking a bright, energetic individual to fill our 2018 internship position and to contribute as an essential member within the IT team in Lisle, IL.
Reporting to the Sr. MIS Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for assigned projects that are designed to offer exposure and experience in a wide array of functional business areas including basic and applied research in conjunction with the defined internship program.
Assists in the identification, documentation, testing and support of Ryerson’s telecommunication systems.
Maintain network hardware, software and services, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure availability.
Collaborates on policy implementation, strategies, guidelines, standards, and procedures related to telecommunication.

Minimum sophomore year completion with a progressive matriculation towards a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following majors: Computer and Information Technology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Telecommunications or Informatics
Prior work experience is a plus; relevant introductory classes are required - LAN/WAN and Wireless Networks preferred
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
Basic understanding of Information Technology security methods, practices and equipment
Proficient with MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook)
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated analytical and organization abilities
Strong written and verbal communication.
Personal initiative and leadership potential
Ability to impact and influence others
Work well with members of a team and possess excellent communication abilities and intellectual curiosity
Less than 5% travel
