Ryerson IT Intern in Lisle, Illinois
Position Description: Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, and recently celebrated our 175th anniversary. We operate approximately 100 locations with 4,000 employees in North America and China. We are currently seeking a bright, energetic individual to fill our 2018 internship position and to contribute as an essential member within the IT- SAP team in Lisle, IL.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, SAP Applications, the successful candidate will be responsible for assigned projects that are designed to offer exposure and experience in a wide array of functional business areas including basic and applied research in conjunction with the defined internship program. This summer, our team will be focused on a project to upgrade our enterprise wide SAP system from version 4.7c to ECC 6.0 Suite on HANA. This position will assist in that effort.
Roles & Responsibilities
Assists in the identification, creation, execution, and documentation of test scenarios.
Aide analysts and programmers in the research and resolution of helpdesk tickets on our production SAP system.

Gain familiarity with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Gain experience with an automated testing tool (Panaya Test Center).
Gain hands-on experience with a live SAP system.
Gain an understanding of the tools, practices, and policies used to manage an ERP system for a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
Gain an understanding of how the Applications team interacts with each other, with other technical teams, and with the business community.
Minimum sophomore year completion with a progressive matriculation towards a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following majors: Computer and Information Technology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or similar.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
Prior work experience is a plus, however, relevant introductory classes are required.
Ability to impact and influence others.
Proficient with MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
