Requirements for summer internship:
Prospective summer interns must be at least 18 years of age and should be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program.
This is a full-time, hourly position: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.
If selected, interns are responsible for securing housing for the summer.
Individuals who have held internship positions with the churchwide organization in the past are not eligible.
Preferred start date is June 4, 2018.End date to be determined based on return to school date.
The ELCA Global Church Sponsorship intern will join a team focused on sharing the story and raising support for the work of the ELCA (and our companions) around the world.Learn more about ELCA Global Church Sponsorship here:www.elca.org/globalchurch.Throughout the summer, the intern will work to support in efforts of sharing ways in which congregations and individuals can strengthen our social media strategy and content, support our young adults in global mission volunteers as they fundraise, connect with generous individuals and congregations, and develop new strategies to share the story of this work.
Working closely with the other members of the team ELCA Global Church Sponsorship team, the intern will have the opportunity to work independently on projects and to also work collaboratively with others.Specific projects and tasks that will be assigned:
-Creating social media posts & strategies
-Engagement with constituents over the phone and email
-Assist the Director in developing a template for international donor trips
-Story gathering from global mission and global mission companions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. This position requires sitting for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; willingness to work both in group settings and individually; strong attention to detail; knowledge and experience in marketing, communication, event planning, and/or development a plus.Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,) required. The Global Church Sponsorship will need to be able to manage multiple projects and tasks at once and must be willing to be flexible as other duties or assignments arise.
