Internship Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable intern to help provide analytical support for our $198M fundraising campaign, reporting to our Director for Budget and Finance, and serving our campaign team and unit directors. As this is an entry-level position, no prior experience is required; however, the candidate must have strong analytical skills and a solid foundation in accounting/finance. Interns are encouraged to allocate some of their time to participate in community worship and special events available at our location.
Job description: This intern will get broad experience in analyzing the many components of a major fundraising campaign, and with the associated budgeting and accounting. The major project for this internship will involve analyzing our multi-year campaign commitment system with over $13M in gross pledges: identifying and tracking necessary follow-up on outstanding commitments, forecasting the "campaign tail" (the timing of how outstanding pledges will be received after the campaign), and recommending enhancements to the functionality of this system for future campaigns. Another project will analyze past spending for campaign fundraising and help formulate spending projections for the last year of the Campaign. Additional analysis will likely include campaign metrics and special reporting for the various campaign stakeholders (program teams spending the campaign funds, fundraisers and their support staff, senior management, and donor advisory groups).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. This position requires sitting for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Required competencies: completed at least 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; must have strong analytical skills, and be detailed oriented, responsible, organized, and focused on quality customer service; proficient use of computers (MS Word and Excel); flexible, resourceful and self-motivated to learn; strong written and verbal communication skills.
