DESCRIPTION Michael Baker International, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern for our Bridge group in our Chicago, IL office.
The Intern will assist Bridge Engineers and Project Managers with planning, design, analysis and production on bridge engineering projects. Focus of work is related to structural engineering and may involve drafting and plan preparation, preparation of structural design and quantity calculations, field inspection, and general office tasks. The Intern will work under the supervision of a Project Manager or Licensed Engineers.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Enrolled in pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of college coursework .
Interest in/prior internship in civil engineering field in Structural Engineering.
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other drafting software.
Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal including technical writing.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint). Preferences:
Completed basic structural engineering courses; statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, etc.
Experience with software programming or coding.
