The Chicago Community Trust Elevated Chicago Intern in Chicago, Illinois
Elevated Chicago is a bold collaborative created to unlock the potential of transit stations and their surrounding areas to connect people and create equitable centers for climate resilience, health and culture. In partnership with national and local partners, Elevated Chicago aims to turn the ½-mile around transit stations into community-focused centers of commerce and culture by removing barriers that hinder innovation; equipping residents with the resources to make these areas a community and civic priority; and aligning, cultivating, and deploying capital for development near the stations.
Elevated Chicago seeks an Intern who will report to the Program Director and will work closely with him and the Program Associate. The Intern will also collaborate with member organizations and other partners in support of Elevated Chicago’s work. The successful candidate will be an organized, creative and collaborative individual, committed to the core values of Elevated Chicago: Adaptability, Impact, Inclusion, Innovation and Transparency. The Chicago Community Trust, the Chicago region’s community foundation, is the fiscal agent for Elevated Chicago and will house the position.
Support project management and implementation of Elevated Chicago’s strategies and work plan
Produce and summarize research
Support grant making, management, writing and reporting
Support the communications strategy of Elevated Chicago, including events and symposiums, Web-based communications, and social media postings
Support the community engagement strategy of Elevated Chicago, including assisting and documenting community-led strategy sessions, and planning community meetings and events
Provide administrative support to Director, Associate, committees, and working groups of Elevated Chicago, including scheduling and coordinating meetings; preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and support materials; and plan and manage events
Support Associate in day-to-day management of Elevated Chicago operations
Enrollment in, or completed, Master’s degree in urban planning, public administration and policy, community development, public health, or related field required
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills, with experience writing articles, and reports, and preparing presentations
Familiar with communities and neighborhoods in the Chicago region
Familiar with the interrelationship of racial equity, health, arts and culture, and climate resilience
Culturally competent, service oriented and committed to providing exceptional service
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher), and able to utilize web-based and other technologies.
Flexible schedule up to 21 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
Salary: $15.00 per hour
