Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Intern works with the systems engineering group, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and project management on the engineering of material handling systems to meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the engineering team to design and enhance conveyor systems, automated and semi- automated material handling systems, static and dynamic storage systems, mezzanines, and modules

  • Works with projects teams, including planning and organizing work, developing and maintaining schedules, tracking, forecasting, and reporting on project financials, enforcing company safety standards, and ensuring success

  • Estimates costs and develops bills of material for proposals and orders

  • Prepares, reviews, and coordinates drawings for proposals, approvals, and installation

  • Generates AutoCAD drawings from instructions and sketches

  • Travels to project sites up to 25%

Qualifications

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment

  • Ability to learn the material handling business and assist across teams and divisions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong team orientation

  • Ability to learn new technology
