Data Analysis Internship Details:

As a Data Analysis intern, you will be exposed to a variety of projects related to collection, analysis and reporting of data sets within Caterpillar’s different business segments. Projects could include but are not limited to:

  • Publish monthly reports including data analysis in Excel/PowerPoint for Marine Parts Excellence

  • Mainframe system work to validate Data Accuracy

  • Creating data driven power point presentations for data analysis to management

  • Compiling, presenting and analyzing data at market levels for potential marketing programs

  • Pulling Product data and creating/implementing a project dashboard

  • Coordination of data into a single integrated information platform

  • Coordination of business plans

  • Other projects as determined based off candidate skill set

Candidates will be considered for positions throughout the United States.

Possible Session Dates:

Spring: January 8 2018 – April 27, 2018

Summer: May 21, 2018 – August 10, 2018

Fall: August 20, 2018 – December 7, 2018

This is a 40 hour per week assignment lasting 12 or 16 weeks

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled as a Full-Time student at an accredited 4-year university pursuing a degree in a technically related field

  • GPA requirements: 3.0/4.0 scale (no rounding)

  • 30 completed semester hours prior to the start of the internship

  • Strong experience with excel including:

  • V/H lookups

  • Pivot Tables

  • Advanced formula calculations

  • Experience writing and executing Macros

  • Must be able to relocate to the internship location for the duration of the internship and complete a daily work commute utilizing reliable transportation

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Previous experience writing SQL queries

  • Previous internship experience

  • Previous experience utilizing Statistical Programming or Data Visualization tools

  • Documented experience in both technical/non-technical fields

  • Strong initiative, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with Caterpillar products
