Work in the Technology Center in Mount Prospect, Illinois. This 23,500 square-foot facility is home to our research and development teams and supports the complete innovation life cycle, from new ideas and concepts to product design, prototyping, testing and validation.
Reporting to the Global Design Engineering Manager, the Intern will work closely with Design Engineers and learn how Littelfuse products are developed from concept through production. The Intern will work on a summer-long research project in the Mt. Prospect Tech Center, regarding material properties and their impact on product performance. The Intern will also support Design Engineers with prototype builds and testing activities. They will gain hands-on experience with Littelfuse products and technologies, and test their teamwork and problem-solving skills on real-world issues. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a Design Engineering career.
Fabricate prototype samples for internal and customer validation testing.
Setup and perform electrical testing of various automotive circuit protection products.
Analyze test results and compose detailed summary reports for engineers.
Assist engineers with new product development projects as necessary.

Student with a Junior or Senior standing in a 4-year Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Industrial or General Engineering program, or Graduate Students in the same fields.
Strong experience with statistics, using Excel and/or Minitab.
General knowledge of mechanics of materials.
Experience with electrical lab equipment.
Experience working in teams to solve problems.
