The Smithfield internship program offers students a paid opportunity to work in an environment that fosters real-life experiences, explores career options and applies your education. You will become a part of key management meetings and participate in meaningful projects.   • You will have exposure and the opportunity to broaden your skills through impactful work, mentored relationships, and will gain real world exposure to different disciplines on Smithfield's Retail Sales team.

  • Support company initiatives through attending food shows, sales team calls and shadowing key individuals.

  • Understand day to day roles and how their roles impact the business and sales cycle, while developing new market opportunities.

  • Work with sales, business and marketing to create a roadmap for training and further product education for our broker partners. The roadmap will be created through direct dialogue with sales directors, regional managers and brokers to create an effective learning and training plan that will maximize the time in front of brokers and align them with our goals.


  • Marketing, Sales, Management, Business Administration major preferred

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must have working experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must have the willingness to learn and work in a team environment

  • Must be a proactive thinker and self-motivated

  • Must have completed Sophomore year of college by start of internship
