Summer Internship - Human Resources The Role: CN is seeking a Human Resources Summer Intern to attract, screen and hire qualified and passionate candidates while proactively working to ensure CN builds a diverse workforce. The Human Resources Internship will start on May 14, 2018 and end on or around August 10, 2018.

Responsibilities and Learning Objectives:

  • Post and advertise job openings
  • Recruit and select candidates from both internal and external sources
  • Utilize innovative methods and sources for attracting quality candidates to North America's Premier Railroad
  • Assist in the candidate selection process by reviewing resumes and applications, administering tests, conducting phone and in-person interviews
  • Ensure recruiting and hiring practices are in compliance with corporate policies, government regulations and CN strategies
  • Manage substantial volume of filing and recordkeeping, performed on an ongoing basis
  • Continual analysis and review of existing procedures are encouraged, as are recommendations for changes to maximize efficiencies and improve processes
  • Audit employment documents
  • Perform data management in various HR systems
  • Participate in client meetings Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must meet all medical qualifications for the position
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Be a student that is currently working towards a degree specializing in Psychology, Sociology or Human Resources
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary in English
  • Submission of an application including resume and reference letter
  • Display the ability to maintain confidentiality as it relates to client meetings, candidate documents and additional information

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment
  • Overnight travel will be required up to 50% of the time throughout the US
  • Occasional observation in the field to gain a better understanding of open positions
