Production Engineer Intern/Co-op - Various Locations
Engineering interns and co-op students are assigned to a specific ADM facility, which could be a soybean-crushing plant, a corn dry or wet-milling operations, or an industrial chemicals manufacturing facility in the Midwest. Internships are 11 weeks in duration during the summer, co-ops are summer plus a semester long internship.
Interns will gain first-hand exposure to leadership, equipment troubleshooting and dealing with the myriad of challenges in a facility that operates around the clock, 365 days per year. This experience offers first-hand knowledge of the plant processes, products and employees in the real word of manufacturing at ADM.
Our program promotes the development of the student while providing a training ground for potential future employees. The internship will consist of four key components: people management, project management, application of engineering expertise and creating a safe work environment. The work is in a variety of plant settings in food processing plants. The job is physically demanding. Production assistants must be capable of climbing ladders, working in tight spaces and entering confined spaces (including tanks and vessels). Some lifting is required.
Interviews are completed before returning to school, bringing closure to the internship experience. After completing our internship program, a student should be prepared to return to campus with a new focus on learning through their application of real-world experience from ADM.
Housing arrangements are driven by the needs of our interns. Potential candidates will be responsible for their own daily transportation during the program.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or agricultural and biological engineering
GPA of 2.8 or greater is preferred
The successful completion and of a pre-employment physical screening, drug screen/alcohol screen and background check is required
This internship relates to those that desire “hands on” experience in a production setting*
*Please note some tasks may require the ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
