DeVry Education Group Intern - Accounting Services - Summer 2018 in Chicago, Illinois
As part of an accounting team, the Accounting Intern will work with accounting managers and senior accountants and be responsible for assisting in various accounting processes including general ledger and account reconciliations, spreadsheet development and various other duties. Another goal of this position is to provide a learning experience and introduction into the operations of an accounting department in a publicly traded organization.
An understanding of accounting with any hands-on transaction processing experience (i.e. cash sales, collections, purchasing, order processing, bill paying, and check writing) is valuable knowledge for being able to learn and contribute quickly.
Performs detailed monthly reviews and account analysis of various balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare journal entries critical to the month-end accounting close.
Prepare spreadsheet analysis as necessary to explain monthly financial results.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within assigned accounts.
Minimum of junior status in good standing
Minimum 3.0 overall grade point average.
Accounting majors strongly encouraged to apply.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
Must have aptitude for attending to details and highly value accuracy.
Exceptional teamwork skills will be valuable in this role.
